KS1 Spring Term 2026

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to this term and our brand-new website! Over this term we hope to populate the pages with as much of our learning as we can.

This term, our learning is focussed on adventures. You can see from the topic web that we will cover lots of different subjects, including geography and history. We will be learning all about the planet and how the climate is different in different parts of it. We will also be travelling to a town called Nome in Alaska and learning all about the famous serum run that happened there.

Our project learning will culminate in an adventure around the village. The children will plan, organise and then go on our adventure. I do wonder what we will do.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page,

Mr D

This is the text map for our 'Talk 4 Writing' text. It is based on the story 'Dougal's Deep Sea Diary' by Simon Bartram. In our text, Dougal visits the North Pole. This is the text that the map follows.

Wednesday

Excitement filled me when I arrived at the North Pole. I woke early and put on my warm coat. Across the snow, I walked carefully and looked at the bright hills. I am writing this now and I am proud to be here.

Thursday

Two huskies pulled me quickly across the ice. In the distance, I saw a polar bear moving quietly. I wanted to follow, but I stayed with my guide so I would be safe. It was an amazing day! I am tired, but I cannot wait for tomorrow.

Science (Animals, including humans)

In our initial science session, we looked at the main body parts that animals have – focussing on the body parts of humans. We drew around a friend and then labelled as many body parts as we could. It was a very practical session.

Design and Technology (DT)

To start our DT work, we explored vehicles and how they are constructed. We looked at the features of the vehicles – including the wheels and axle. This will lead us to design and build our own vehicle for an adventure.
