This page holds the content of our curriculum in each year for every subject, including Religious Education. Parents, or other members of the public can find out more about our curriculum by contacting the school directly via email at enquiries@denton.lincs.sch.uk.
Our approach to our curriculum is explained on the following documents and we also comply with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 (further information on this can be found via our Equal Opportunities Policy) and the Special Educational needs and Disability Regulations 2014 (further information can be found under our SEND tab).
Promoting equality and diversity in our curriculum
There are 9 protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 and all schools should be able to demonstrate that no form of discrimination is tolerated and that pupils show respect for those who share the protected characteristics.
The 9 Protected Characteristics are:
•age
•disability
•gender reassignment
•marriage and civil partnership
•pregnancy and maternity
•race
•religion or belief
•sex
•sexual orientation
At Denton Primary School, we teach children about the protected characteristics in an age appropriate manor throughout our curriculum. In key stage one pupils understand the term "We are all equal" and begin by discussing what makes us unique and special. In key stage two pupils begin to name the protected characteristics and discuss the meaning.
We believe that children should be able to recognise themselves and their circumstances so they can see their lived experiences validated and valued. The following documents map out where in the curriculum each protected characteristic is taught.
